Repipe Process
Repiping is the process of replacing all existing water piping and installing new water piping throughout your home or building. Repiping is a
long-term solution to pipe corrosion problems and slab leaks (to eliminate under slab/foundation piping), as well as for polybutylene replacement. A. Plumbing Pro provides repipe solutions in Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Estero, Sanibel and Bonita Springs. We use Uponor PEX for superior quality and durability.
Step 1 - Inspection and Estimate: An inspection of your current plumbing will be performed. An estimate will include the installation of all new hot and cold water piping and replacement of the main distribution system and branch lines to all existing fixtures. Drain replacement and the fixtures themselves such as faucets, toilets, valves, water heaters, etc. are not included, but estimates for replacement can be included at your request.
Step 2 - Layout: Once you accept the estimate for the re-pipe, you will be expected to pay up to a 30% deposit based on the estimate. The plumber will map out the re-pipe to determine what materials will be required to meet your needs. The materials will then be ordered to complete the project.
Step 3 - Removal of Old Pipes: Prior to starting, the plumber will walk you through any steps you will need to take to prepare the site in order to protect your furniture, walls, floors, etc. Your walls and ceiling will be cut as little as possible to gain access to your old pipes. This is the messiest part of the process, but the drywall will be replaced and clean-up will be such that the final result will look like an original, unpainted surface. Also, the dust that is created during the drywall cutting process is vacuumed as it is being cut to minimize mess. The old pipes are then removed. You can expect to be without water for 1-2 days, depending on the size of the house, during the removal and installation process. At the end of each day, if necessary, you will be left with at least one working bathroom and use of kitchen so home remains livable.
Step 4 - Installation: The pipes of your home are replaced, one section at a time, starting with one bathroom and the kitchen. Floors and countertops are covered to aid in preventing damage. This is a good time to consider adding a hot water return line (recirculation line) and replacing existing shower valves or any fixtures. Estimates for additional work can be provided at any time during the process.
Step 5 - System Performance Test: The newly installed system is tested for proper function. Testing is performed using air, not water, just in case any problems are encountered during testing of system. Any necessary adjustments are made to assure a safe and efficient performance.
Step 6 - Wall Repair: Following inspection by city/county inspector, wall repair will be completed. Drywall repair and final clean-up will be performed by a professional drywall repair company. The cost for drywall repair is included in the estimate for the re-pipe. Final payment is due when work is completed.
